The Barossa Airshow and the Rotary Club of Barossa Valley raised the funds that have helped the Friends of the Nuriootpa Dog Park to erect a shelter.

This shelter was a long time in being realised. Early in 2020, were looking at helping the Friends of the Dog Park to erect the shelter when the COVID-19 pandemic struck. Our fundraising capabilities were severely restricted and the Rotary Club of Barossa Valley were forced into survival mode. We were having a lot of trouble meeting our current commitments to students and the community so we had no chance of taking on extra projects.

In July 2020 we had the opportunity to host the Barossa Airshow. It was a long, difficult process for the Airshow Committee to learn how to run an Airshow and the added complications of meeting the constantly evolving SA Health requirements of a Covid Safe Plan increased the load significantly, but in April 2021 we ran a very successful Airshow. Thanks to Steve Ahrens from Lyndoch Motors as the CASA authorised Airshow Manager who made the entire project possible.

This meant that we now had funds to revive some of our projects that were on the back burner, and so the Dog Park Shelter became a reality. The Barossa Valley Rotary Club released the funds to the Friends of the Dog Park so they could buy the carport from Stratco and get the official authority to build it from the Barossa Council.

On 24th September 2021, we received the news that the shelter had been erected.
