Russell F. Greiner was the 3rd President of RI. In an address he delivered in 1914 he said "Since the beginning of time, all mankind has been bound together by service. The world's happy families, prosperous communities, great states and powerful nations have been held together by the magic word service."

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Welcome back to The Clubhouse. We are back to something like normal, but we do not know for how long. The situation is constantly under review so we could find ourselves back on Zoom at short notice.
After 32 years as a member, Richard Miller has decided to resign from Rotary. I am sure that we wish Richard all the best and thank him for his contributions to Rotary over the years.
Peter Perkins has a birthday today..
The pandemic is affecting all of us in different ways. Several members have decided during the break to resign their membership, several have had their regular commitments turned upside down and for many of us, life will be noticeably different from now on. Our fundraising has been curtailed, our social activities cut back and the club is struggling to find things we can do that will not break any of the restrictions or regulations that are continually being adjusted.
We will get through this. The club will be able to get back to supporting our community just like we have done since the club was chartered in 1956. It will just take time for the current conditions to be controlled so we need to survive until normality is restored.
Looking to the future, we have Stephen Ahrens here tonight to talk to us about the Air Show. This should enable us to earn funds for our projects and also allow other Barossan not-for-profit groups to boost their finances.
We have a Vacant Position. Keith Adams has been doing the Program of Speakers for 3 years and he needs a break. Any volunteers please let me know as soon as possible. The new format of meetings means that we will need a guest speaker at the most every other week. Currently, I am doing the program so I could continue with the program if someone else will be President.
Keith Millington
President

Barossa Air Show.
Steve Ahrens is General Manager and a director of Lyndoch Motors. He is a CASA approved Air Display Organiser and has been a private pilot for the past 38 years.
Steve addressed the club last night with a comprehensive Power Point presentation. He and St Jacobi’s School parents and friends have managed successful Air Shows since 1998 on a biennial cycle. Only a couple of these have had to be cancelled due to inclement weather. St Jacobi has withdrawn from the management of the event and Steve has offered it to Barossa Rotary as a major fund raiser. The planned date is Sunday April 11th, 2021.
Following much discussion and questioning, John Little put a motion to accept the offer and a vote of those present was unanimous in favour of the club managing the event. Steve made it quite clear that he would be on hand to support and guide the club as necessary, having assisted in managing the previous 10 air shows in the Barossa.
A Steering Committee is already in place and the next move is to establish a Management Committee. This committee will appoint a Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer along with others to manage and supervise the Front Gate, Promotions, Sponsorship, Grounds, Art and Craft Stalls, Static Display, Catering and Workforce.
President Keith told the gathering that The Leader Newspaper would give our club full backing and major advertising nearer the event.
It is a long time since the club has had a major community project and if we manage this opportunity well, then this event could prove to be a positive catalyst for community awareness and membership growth of our club going forward.
President Keith thanked Steve for the opportunity and presented him with a small gift.

Rotary International President 2020-2021 Holger Knaack said "The world needs Rotary more than ever. It is up to us to make sure that
Rotary Opens Opportunities for generations to come.

Barossa Air Show could be our club's opportunity

18 YEAR OLD TAIA TAKES THE REIGNS IN 2020-2021 AND SHE HAS HER SIGHTS SET ON MAKING A CHANGE IN THE COMMUNITY.
